Moab in Autumn

It’s a beautiful time to visit Moab in Autumn. Daytime temperatures are in the high 60s to mid 70s. Overnight lows are in the 40s. There could be some showers on and off from Saturday through Tuesday. But that would be welcome relief from the long drought and would help to freshen up the creeks.

If you come to Moab in autumn, be prepared to dress in layers as you travel through the high desert. With elevation changes and clouds moving around you could be making changes several times each day.

The crowds tend to get quite a bit thinner as we approach November. With the sun getting lower in the sky the colors of the red rock scenery are coming into their most spectacular time of year!

November is our favorite month to visit Moab. The daytime weather is pleasantly comfortable and crystal-clear nights provide starry skies. It’s easy to go to any of your favorite restaurants without having to wait in line.  And the supermarket seems more spacious than ever!

Also, the roads in Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are not choked with traffic. Unfortunately, the millions of visitors that come to Moab every year are not spread out evenly. If that were the case traffic patterns would be completely different. So, November is a much calmer time of year to visit Moab.

One of the best things about coming to Moab in autumn is experiencing the true wilderness of the desert. With fewer people on the trails, you can really enjoy places like Sandstone Arch or The Windows. If you are an early riser you might even get photos of these iconic natural monuments without people in the picture.

Reservations for the condo in Moab are still available for about half of November. Book your stay now and enjoy the beautiful red rock scenery in and around Moab.
