As we celebrate the Thanksgiving
holiday, the condo in Moab is coming into a quiet time of the year. Winter
weather is arriving with night time temperatures dropping down into the
teens and 20s. Daytimes are in the 40s
and 50s, but there will be periods of rain and snow on and off for the next
This winter we will be doing
the annual heavy cleaning at the condo in Moab.
It’s quite a production to move all the furniture, empty out the kitchen
cabinets and clean all the nooks and crannies.
Even though the house keeping service does a great job after each guest
departs the condo in Moab still needs a
deep cleaning (as does every other vacation rental) when the season winds down.
We like to take inventory at
the end of each rental season to see if anything is damaged, missing or needs
replacement. It’s important to us that
all of our guests enjoy a great experience at the condo in Moab. So, that’s why you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with
all of the appliances, pots, pans and accessories needed to whip up fantastic
If you are planning to visit
Moab between now and the middle of February, please keep in mind that many of
the local shops and restaurants close for 2 to 4 months. Some of the proprietors head up to the
mountains of Colorado or Northern Utah for skiing. But many shop keepers depart for the beaches
and warm, sunny climates.

When it comes to lodging in Moab there are many choices. But, most hotel rooms are nothing more than a rectangle with a couple of beds. Having your own kitchen in which to prepare meals not only saves money but a lot of time waiting in line at the restaurants in town.
While the lines might be relatively short in November, during the busy season you can easily wait an hour or more to get a seat in a good restaurant. Some places practically require reservations in the spring and fall. So, for most people it’s preferable to do your shopping at City Market and enjoy meals at the condo in Moab.
The autumn weather has been
unusually nice this year. However, there could be some precipitation coming in
later this week. Higher elevations might get a dusting of snow while we could
see a few raindrops in town. Regardless, this has been an exceptionally
beautiful fall in red rock country.
If you are planning a trip in 2020 now is the time to line up your lodging in Moab. It’s amazing how quickly the quality properties book up for the high-volume springtime season. Visitors planning activities in Moab any time from March through June who want the best variety to choose from will want to make reservations before the Christmas holidays.
It’s a beautiful November at the
condo in Moab. We are experiencing sunny
skies and temperatures in the mid 60s making for a very pleasant time. While it
is getting chilly at night, this is a great time of year to enjoy Arches and Canyonlands
National Parks without the usual crowds.
There are still some dates
available at the condo in Moab, although we are seeing more bookings this
November than last year. It looks like the weather is going to be pretty nice
the next couple of weeks. So, with the sun at a low angle in the sky it makes
for beautiful photographs and brilliant colors in red rock country.
When visiting Moab this time of year it’s important
to bring clothing that you can wear in layers. The temperature will vary by as
much as 40° each day starting off cool in the morning and warming up quickly
after 9 AM. However, the red rocks don’t hold hardly any heat this time of
year. So, things tend to get rather brisk as we approach sunset. Having turned
back the clocks last week it is now getting dark much earlier.
Photographers visiting this
part of the world will want to take advantage of the excellent light at dawn
and sunset. You don’t have to worry about wrestling with other people to get a
good spot at your favorite viewpoint in November. And one of the best things
about shooting pictures in Arches National Park this time of year is having no
people in your photos. There is just something really special about having
pictures of these beautiful arches in their natural state without a bunch of
tourists mucking up the view.
In about one month, some of the local shops and restaurants will be closing for the winter season. While the really big restaurants and retail stores remain open, most of the smaller places take a hiatus until mid to late February.
